Best Restaurants in Colorado Springs That Locals Actually Love

Food Iris Burton June 22, 2026

If you want to know where to eat in Colorado Springs, ask a local.

Tour guides will send you to chain restaurants with mountain views. Locals know better. Colorado Springs has a collection of independent restaurants that have earned fierce loyalty from the people who live here year round. These are the spots regulars return to again and again, the ones that come up in every conversation about where to take a visitor, and the ones that genuinely represent what this city's food scene is about.

Here are my honest recommendations as someone who has lived in the Springs most of my life and eaten at most of these restaurants more times than I can count.

"Colorado Springs doesn't get nearly enough credit for its food scene. Every one of these restaurants would hold its own in Denver, and most of them are better than what you'd find there at the same price point."

Shuga's

702 S. Cascade Ave

Ask any Colorado Springs local where to take someone for their first real dinner in the city and Shuga's is almost always the answer. Dog-friendly patio, creative cocktails, and a menu that surprises you every time.

•Must order: The Spicy Brazilian Coconut Shrimp Soup paired with the Cuban Mojo sandwich. This combination is the menu's crown jewel and non-negotiable on your first visit.

•Cocktails: The Naked Beekeeper is excellent. During happy hour try their crappy beer of the moment and a shot.

•Tip: Go on a weekday evening or before a Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC game. Park nearby and walk to the stadium after dinner.

•Price range: Entrees $13 to $20

Shuga's is unpretentious, fun, and consistently excellent. The kind of restaurant that becomes part of your Colorado Springs identity once you move here.

Red Gravy Italian Bistro

Downtown Colorado Springs

Named the title sponsor of Springs Magazine's Best Restaurants in Colorado Springs for 2026, Red Gravy has earned its reputation as the city's best Italian restaurant. Warm atmosphere, consistently excellent food, and the kind of service that makes you feel like a regular from your very first visit.

•Best for: Date nights, special occasions, anyone who takes Italian food seriously

•Standout: Traditional recipes with Colorado ingredients woven in naturally

•Price range: Mid to upper range

Red Gravy is the restaurant where locals celebrate. Anniversary dinners, job promotions, welcoming new neighbors. It holds a special place in this community.

Four by Brother Luck

Downtown Colorado Springs

Chef Brother Luck is one of Colorado Springs' most celebrated culinary voices and Four is his flagship restaurant. A farm-to-table experience that showcases Colorado ingredients in creative, unexpected ways with exceptional presentation and seasonal menus.

•Best for: Foodies, special occasions, people who want to be genuinely surprised by a meal

•Standout: Seasonal tasting menu format, exceptional desserts, beautiful plating that treats food as art

•Price range: Upper range and worth every dollar

Four is where Colorado Springs' most serious dining shows up. If you want to experience what this city's food culture is capable of at its very best, this is the restaurant.

The Rabbit Hole

101 N. Tejon St

A whimsical culinary escape in the heart of downtown with a unique underground atmosphere, creative cocktails, and food that genuinely delivers on the promise of the setting. One of the most talked-about dining experiences in Colorado Springs.

•Best for: First dates, visitors, anyone who wants a dining experience rather than just a meal

•Standout: The atmosphere is unlike anything else in the city and the food earns the setting

•Price range: Mid to upper range

Phantom Canyon Brewing

Downtown Colorado Springs

One of Colorado Springs' original craft breweries and still one of the best. The rooftop patio, excellent food menu, and rotating house-brewed beers make Phantom Canyon a downtown institution that never loses its appeal.

•Best for: Casual dinners, groups, craft beer lovers, rooftop evenings in summer

•Price range: Mid range
